What if she does something drastic? I don’t know that she won’t run back to fight.

I lost our daughter twice. If I lose her a third time to my own actions, I don’t know that I’ll be able to survive it.

And I may live quite some time yet. I just… have to make the best of what I have left.

I’ll be all right, my love. Really. There are bigger things to focus on. Kaori really stirred up the public, and Adora was badly injured.

You said the ward of the far king was here, as well, right? We’re going to have enough on our plate without you having to worry about twelve years that may not come for decades.

As for Nia... we certainly can't tell her about any of this either. I'm not sure she knows how to keep a secret.

But then again... maybe it's easy for a man with that much power to be nice for a few years.

Pops was a neurotic mess who saw everyone as a thread. The fae king... if he didn't see Nia as a threat, he probably thought he could afford to be nice. Even if he didn't mean it.

Just don't work too hard too quickly. You're still recovering.
