[But fine! They'll order an increase in speed. They'll ask Adora to stay close too. Ranma's keeping by Fuu's side.]

[Adora's always a little behind them. But it's a mostly uneventful, if chilly, trek back to the capitol.]

[Almost... home free!

The capitol streets might get very crowded if the rumor gets out that the royals are back. People are searching all over for the carriage party, desperate for a look of hope for their royals.]

[hououji]

[Fuu is a little startled by that.]

... How did they know we were returning?

[fluidgender]

Someone might have noticed our early scouts... or maybe the scouts told people themselves.

What a mess...

[She's trying to look fine in case anyone sees her, but she's... nervous.]

Have we heard anything about Kaori?

[fluidgender]

Nothing yet... the people we had around her can be trusted. Should be trustworthy.

[But panic is itching at them.]

[She's antsy. Her hands are clutched in her skirts. Adora tries to stay out of anyone's sight as best as she can. She's probably behind the carriage.]

[fluidgender]

[It takes some effort to navigate through the crowds, but the troops are able to block off a path to help the royals.

Adora might be the one who can hear some yelling best. About... "if the newspapers are true?"]

[She's casually going to ask someone what the newspapers are saying, or if they have one she can read.]

[They'll hand one over!

...Kaori uh. Definitely published what the fae did to herself, and Adora, and Nia. She didn't publish stuff about heritage disputes or the like but. She certainly hasn't been subtle about everything else.]

[ Nia, in the palace, has kind of gone very quiet and nervous. She’s waiting for someone else to try to kill her tbh.

Adora will hand it to a guard and say the king needs to see it like. Now??? ]

[It slips between the slot and...

The king drags a hand down their face.] Kaori... that child...

What’s wrong?

[fluidgender]

She's done something drastic again... and told the nation about your and Adora's kidnapping.

[hououji]

What?! [ Oh this is a political nightmare. She breaks out into another cough. ]

[fluidgender]

[It won't be long until they're finally back at the castle. There are healers waiting for them. And naturally, Kaori is trying to shove her way past guards to see if it's really her folks.[

[hououji]

[ Fuu is also making a point to the healers that she’s going to see her daughter before anything.

Whether she likes it or not, Kaori is getting wrapped up in a mom hug. Fuu acting like she’s not barely able to stay on her feet. ]

[fluidgender]

[Oh, Kaori has to be careful not to knock Fuu over when she spots her. She's racing over to embrace her instantly, crying into her shoulder.]

[Fuu holds her tightly, stroking her hair. She tries to not make it obvious that she is also crying but there was a period where she thought she'd never see her daughter again.] I'm so sorry we scared you so much. We're safe now. You don't have to worry anymore.

[missedorientation]

I'm gonna be worried no matter what! I-is anything broken? Or bruised?

[hououji]

I'll be all right. I just need some rest. Are you all right? [She pulls back to push Kaori's hair aside and get a good look at her face.]

[She looks like she hasn't slept in a while. She's trying to feel Fuu's face too, without question.]
